On Matchday 30 of Ligue 1, which took place on Saturday 8th April at the Allianz Riviera, Marquinhos started and captained Paris Saint-Germain once again, bringing him one step closer to making history as a part of the club’s almost 10-year story.

The centre back made his 400th competitive appearance for the team against Les Aiglons and is now nearing the record for the most appearances for the club, held by Jean-Marc Pilorget (435 matches).

Since joining Paris Saint-Germain in July 2013, the Brazil international has played in 262 Ligue 1 matches (scoring 24 goals), 31 Coupe de France matches (3 goals), 20 Coupe de la Ligue matches (2 goals), 6 Trophées des Champions matches, and 81 UEFA Champions League matches (9 goals) for Les Rouge et Bleu.

Marquinhos is also one of the most successful players in the club’s history, having won 27 trophies alongside teammate Marco Verratti. They have won 7 Ligue 1 championships (in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022), 6 Coupe de France titles (in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2021), 6 Coupe de la Ligue titles (in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020), and 8 Trophées des Champions (in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022).

Marquinhos made his debut for Paris Saint-Germain in a UEFA Champions League match against Olympiakos on 17th September 2013, followed a few days later by his league debut against AS Monaco at the Parc des Princes on 22nd September 2013.

He has faced AS Saint-Etienne the most number of times for the club (21 matches), followed by Olympique de Marseille and Stade Rennais FC (20 matches).

Marquinhos’ best record is against AS Saint-Etienne, having won 17 times and drawn 4 times, without any defeats. Marseille has only beaten Paris Saint-Germain once when Marquinhos was on the pitch.

Recently, Marquinhos celebrated his 100th competitive match as Paris Saint-Germain captain, having been named captain for the first time on 15th February 2022, in a prestigious 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League at the Parc des Princes.

In terms of the club’s all-time rankings for most appearances, only Marco Verratti (with 409 matches played from 2012 to date) and Jean-Marc Pilorget (with 435 matches played from 1975 to 1989) are ahead of Marquinhos.
