Manu Koné, the 21-year-old midfielder, is reportedly being targeted by Chelsea and PSG, as per SportBild. Koné, who dreams of playing in the Premier League, has already had discussions with Gladbach’s sporting director, Roland Virkus, regarding a move this summer.
If Gladbach receives an offer significantly above €25 million, they have indicated that Koné can leave in the summer.
Koné joined Gladbach in 2021 from Toulouse for €9 million and has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after young midfielders during his time in the Bundesliga. His current contract runs until 2025 with an option for an additional year.
Koné has missed only two games this season, one due to suspension and the other due to an injury sustained in the first match of the season against SV Oberachern in the DFB Pokal.
Gladbach intends to rebuild in the summer, with several players set to depart. Marcus Thuram and Ramy Bensebaini are expected to leave, while the futures of Lars Stindl and Nico Elvedi are unclear.
Julian Weigl’s loan is set to expire, and Gladbach cannot afford to keep him unless they sell Koné. Any money earned from player sales will likely be used to fund the rebuild.
