Report shows that the 20-year-old has been in talks with Bournemouth along with a number of other Premier League clubs over the last two weeks but it now appears Ouattara will become the first signing of the Bill Foley era.

Although the Burkina Faso international will fly into the UK today to complete his medical and finalise the move, which is subject to a work permit application.

Ouattara has six goals and six assists in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season in what is his breakout campaign in professional football.

Bournemouth owner Foley has purchased a 30 per cent stake in Lorient with a view to owning the French club outright in future.

Last month, Foley stated he would not be “surprised” to make “four or five” new signings in the January window. But Bournemouth’s squad is at capacity, meaning outgoings were needed before any incoming transfers could be registered in their 25-man squad list.

Jamal Lowe and Emiliano Marcondes have since departed Bournemouth on loan, for QPR and FC Nordsjaelland respectively.
