Role Overview
As a Data Engineer at Wheel, you will be pivotal in leveraging data to address business challenges, build and maintain infrastructure, and enhance processes. You will optimize our Horizon data science workflows, contributing to customer lifecycle and retention models. This role involves collaborating with Engineering and Business Intelligence teams to develop data models and pipelines for research, reporting, and machine learning. Additionally, you will champion best practices in data engineering and science, providing mentorship and fostering continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Engineering and Operations teams to design and implement complex algorithms that deliver unique insights.
Enhance back-end systems through iterative improvements.
Develop data models for front-end and back-end sources to create a comprehensive view of user interactions and enable advanced data analysis.
Construct data pipelines to clean, transform, and aggregate data from various sources.
Build predictive models to address business questions and drive decisions.
Who You Are
5+ years of experience as a data engineer, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and data visualization/exploration tools.
Proficient in the AWS ecosystem, including tools like Redshift, RDS, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Aurora, Timestream/InfluxDB, Healthlake, Trino, and Quicksight.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical business leaders effectively.
Capable of thriving in a dynamic, research-oriented startup environment with multiple concurrent projects.
Additional Core Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience with ETL processes is essential.
Professional certifications are a plus.
