3. Exhale and Relax Your Chest
With your shoulders and arms relaxed, that should be easy. Now that your upper body is relaxed, it’s time to focus on your chest. Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, feel your chest relax.
Breathe deeply. Continue to breathe slowly and deeply. With each exhale, imagine your chest becoming lighter and more relaxed.
Focus on your heart rate. Pay attention to your heart rate. As you relax your chest and continue breathing deeply, your heart rate will naturally slow down, helping you to feel more at ease.
Complete relaxation. By the time you’ve relaxed your chest, your upper body should feel completely at ease. This relaxation is key to preparing the rest of your body for sleep.
