Reports suggest that the duo, along with former Crystal Palace head of player care Danny Young, will be acquiring non-league club AFC Croydon.

AFC Croydon was founded in 2012 after the unfortunate folding of Croydon Athletic. In a statement shared via BBC Sport, the consortium expressed their enthusiasm for the new agreement, stating, “The consortium will own, operate, and develop their childhood hometown football club. While the completion of the deal is subject to legislative and governance procedures, the three consortium members are thrilled about building a community asset in the borough that provided them with numerous opportunities.”

The statement continued, “They aspire to embark on this exciting journey together with the entire community, involving them every step of the way.”

Stormzy, renowned for his music career, hails from Croydon and has achieved significant recognition, including three Brit Awards. Despite being a dedicated Manchester United supporter, the rapper recently took on the role of the England team manager in the 2023 edition of Soccer Aid.

Wilfried Zaha, on the other hand, began his footballing journey at Crystal Palace before joining Manchester United in 2013. Following a one-year loan spell back at Palace in 2014, Zaha returned permanently to the club in 2015. His talent also earned him two caps for the England national team before he switched his allegiance to the Ivory Coast, earning an impressive 31 caps for his country of birth.

Taking to social media, Zaha announced the decision by tweeting, “May the journey begin.”
