Celtic to request for more money on Jeremie Frimpong transfer

ImageReport states that Celtic could be set to receive another huge windfall if Jeremie Frimpong ends up signing for English Premier League giants Manchester United.

The defender has been a revelation with Bayer Leverkusen since he quit Glasgow’s east end in January 2021 for a fee in the region of £11.5million.

Although Frimpong signed for Celtic in a £350,000 deal in September 2019 after coming through the youth ranks at Manchester City.

Now the Hoops are all set to cash in again on the full-back if the Dutchman’s proposed move to the Red Devils turns out to be a goer.

Celtic’s coffers could be swelled significantly with the Scottish Premiership champions reputed to have negotiated a whopping 30 per cent clause on any transfer profit for Frimpong.

According to Bundesliga reports Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is a huge admirer of the 22-year-old and is under no obligation to sell his prized asset.

However, if Manchester United Erik ten Hag wants to lure his fellow countryman to Old Trafford then a figure of £50million and upwards could well tempt the Germans to potentially do business.

Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou’s men look to be heading to Japan for a pre-season friendly in the summer according to Japanese media outlet Nikkan Sports.

It must be noted that The 57-year-old is heading for another emotional homecoming with Celtic after their tour of Australia back in November.

The Aussie and his men will head to the Far East for a glamour clash with his old side Yokohama F Marinos who will also play Manchester City.

There has been no mention of the Hoops taking on Pep Guardiola’s side just yet or if the games will take the form of a pre-season tournament. However, the matches could well be played in late July.

Yokohama F Marinos are part of the same City Football Group as the English giants and the Spaniard took his side there back in 2019.
