Liverpool is facing a big challenge in finding a successor to Roberto Firmino this summer. The Brazilian’s exit will leave a void in the false nine role, and it remains to be seen who will step up to fill his shoes.Image

Jürgen Klopp has been exploring options, including developing Cody Gakpo in that position, but the Dutchman’s lack of experience will require time to develop.

However, Liverpool has another potential option in Curtis Jones, whom Klopp signed to a long-term deal earlier this season.

Despite not yet finding his permanent position in the team, Jones has shown glimpses of his potential, with notable performances against Leipzig and Porto in 2021.

The 22-year-old midfielder scored a goal in England U21’s recent 4-0 win over France U21, indicating his progress in Klopp’s vision.

While injuries have limited his game time this season, Jones has shown promise and deserves more opportunities to develop, even if it means loaning him out.

With his skills and potential, he could be the wildcard replacement for Firmino that Liverpool has been searching for, and Klopp’s decision to sign him to a new deal could prove to be a key move.
