100

Tensions will be high when Tottenham Hotspur host their London rivals West Ham United in a Premier League encounter on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur sit in fifth place on 39 points, two points behind fourth-placed Newcastle United who currently hold a spot in the Champions League. Sixth-placed Brighton & Hove Albion, the first club outside of the Europa League position, are four points behind Tottenham. West Ham United are placed 16th on 20 points, trailing Spurs by 19 points for a spot in the Europa League

Tottenham were defeated 4-1 in their last Premier League match at King Power Stadium against Leicester City. West Ham United’s last league match resulted in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at London Stadium to extend their unbeaten streak to three (W1 D2 L0).

The last Premier League version of the London rivalry saw the clubs play out a 1-1 draw at London Stadium in August. Tomás Soucek scored the lone goal for the Hammers in the 55th minute. Tottenham Hotspur’s only goal came courtesy of the Hammers’ Thilo Kehrer putting the ball in his own net.

Harry Kane has been a key performer for Tottenham this season. The striker is the side’s top scorer with 17 goals, which is the second highest in the competition in 2022/2023, seven of those having been the tone-setting first of the match.

Danny Ings and Jarrod Bowen are West Ham United’s leading scorers, netting six and four times, respectively.

At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season, Tottenham have seven wins and four losses in 11 Premier League contests. West Ham will seek to address a poor run of results away from home this season with three draws, seven losses, and just one win in league away contests. The Hammers will be out to end a nine-match away winless streak (W0 D3 L6). They haven’t earned a win away since August 2022 against Aston Villa.

In their last six league matches, Tottenham have won three and lost three. West Ham, meanwhile, have won one, drawn three and lost two in their last six.
