According to report saying that Southampton are close to completing a deal to sign Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.
Although Alcaraz will arrive in England tomorrow afternoon to complete his medical before the transfer
The deal is worth an initial €14million (£12.3m), subject to add ons and the 20-year-old will sign a deal until 2027.
Racing later put out a statement on social media confirming Alcaraz’s move to Southampton.
The Athletic revealed on Sunday that Alcaraz wanted a move to the south coast and was confident an agreement could be reached, after Southampton had their opening offer of €10m turned down.
Alcaraz had a release clause of €25million (£22m) inserted into his contract with Racing.
It must be noted that Southampton are in the market for a new midfielder and Alcaraz is at the top of their shortlist this month.
Alcaraz has spent his entire senior career so far at Racing, scoring 12 goals in 83 appearances.
The Athletic revealed last week that Southampton have made signing a new No 8 one of their priorities following the summer departure of Oriol Romeu to Spanish side Girona and Mohamed Elyounoussi with only six months left on his current contract.
Southampton are also keen on signing a centre-back and forward.
The St Mary’s side wanted to keep hold of the experienced Romeu but the former Chelsea midfielder expressed his wish to seal a move back to his homeland
