Although Arteta have confirmed that the club will attempt to tie Saka down to a new contract and even a reputable media house like ” The Athletic” now claims that an ‘initial conversation’ over a new-and-improved deal has taken place between the parties involved.

The report adds that Arsenal are optimistic about their chances of extending the England international’s stay, but factors such as Champions League football will still play a big part in negotiations.

Saka has already won the FA Cup and Community Shield at the Emirates and boasts 21 goals and 27 assists from 121 games for the Gunners since coming through their Hale End academy.
