Report reaching our newsroom show that Arsenal have reportedly finalised paperwork for the transfer of goalkeeper Matt Turner from New England Revolution.
It was noted that the shot-stopper was tipped to join the Gunners earlier last month, but there has been no official confirmation to the report
Concurring with the report of ESPN’s Taylor Twellmansaying there is now a complete agreement between both clubs as well as the player.
The transfer will go through at the end of the season, provided Turner passes his medical and obtains a work permit.
Although the 27-year-old’s arrival is expected to pave the way for the departure of Bernd Leno, who is eyeing regular game time somewhere else.
With the Germam currently frustrated playing second fiddle to Aaron Ramsdale for the league games, and sees his future elsewhere.
His contract expires in June 2023, and the Gunners are expected to sell him this summer after pursuing Turner’s services.
Turner is expected to join for around £7.5m. The club will most certainly recoup the entire sum from Leno’s permanent exit.
Leno is on the radar of Newcastle United. They could be favourites to land his signature if they avoid relegation from the top-flight.
