Report have shown that Chelsea are reportedly interested in landing the signature of Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez this January transfer month.
It was an established fact that the west London giants are looking for defensive reinforcements and Alvarez has apparently grabbed the eye of the Blues for now.
Based on positioning and observation showing that the 24-year-old is a defensive midfielder by trade but he is also comfortable operating from the heart of the backline.
His versatility is an obvious boost, and according to Football Insider, the Blues are plotting a potential winter bid for him.
Report also shows that the Mexican is also on the radar of Leicester City and Crystal Palace but the Blues could have the edge in the pursuit of the defensive midfielder.
Based on club report saying that the defensive Midfielder was signed from Club America for around £13 million. It may take a fee of at least £35m to tempt Ajax into his sale.
But it is unclear whether the Dutch giants will entertain a mid-season deal with them still looking for another Eredivisie title.
They face a tough challenge this term. PSV Eindhoven are currently one point ahead of them after 19 games into the season.
